StreamStation – iOS (iPhone/iPad/Apple TV)

Why do I like it? – Although I primarily listen to podcasts these days, I often listen to radio when I’m in a more passive listening mode.  Despite living in the St. Louis area for nearly 20 years now, my favorite station is Chicago’s WXRT.  I can stream the station directly from their website or from within the iTunes Internet Radio section.  There are several apps that allow me to stream WXRT from my iPhone and iPad, like TuneIn Radio, so I can listen in my car or on-the-go.  But streaming through my Apple TV required me to start the stream on another device and then AirPlay the content to my Apple TV.  StreamStation allows me to create and save a station within the app using iTunes WXRT streaming URL.  Artist and album art information is displayed on the TV.

It is a pretty minimalistic app and well worth $1 even if I use it on only one device for only one URL.
